THEME SECTION
The ecology of temperate reefs in a changing world
Organizer: Bayden D. Russell
Editors: Lisandro Benedetti-Cecchi, Yun-wei Dong, Laura J. Falkenberg, Bayden D. Russell, Myron A. Peck
This Theme Section assembles original research articles highlighting recent advances in the study of the ecology of temperate reefs. Contributions cover a wide range of topics from the functioning of natural systems, to the effects of natural and anthropogenic disturbances, current efforts to enhance the function of urbanised shores, and experimental assessments of how these systems may change under future ocean heating and acidification. Papers span all levels of biological organisation, from individual physiology to ecosystem function ecology, and spatial scales, from populations to landscape ecology.
