Video S1
An example MPEG of barnacle larvae (Nauplius 6, N6, stage, 25 °C, Salinity 30) repeatedly swimming across the test vial in response to light direction which changes every 30 s. Video is accelerated to make motion more visually apparent. The camera slides into place over the vial, then records as the larvae follow the alternating lights. A count of the moving larvae provides an estimate of how many individuals are actively swimming.
